Danielle Diaz, Founder and Head Educator

Danielle spent several years as Camp Director for the Chicago Academy of Sciences, reshaping their programs from indoor daycare based formats, to pioneering day camps highlighting nature play and unstructured learning. She started her journey in education as a Ross Valley summer school aid while attending Kent middle school and Redwood High. She attended Loyola University Chicago earning a Bachelor's degree in Environmental Studies and Theater, and continued on to Los Angeles for a Masters Degree in Environmental Education.

She has presented on her techniques and methodology at the Chicago Wilderness Congress, and Leave No Child Inside. She most recently worked with the San Mateo County Office of Education, 10 Strands, and Hidden Villa in leading teacher institutes to better prepare classroom teachers for the Next Generation Science Standards. She has earned certificates from Positive Discipline in the Classroom, National Association for Interpretation, and studied social emotional development through Boulder University with professors from Harvard, Stanford, and Walden.

Patricia Long Diaz, Volunteer educator

Patricia is the proud mother of three girls and grandma to an extensive line of little ones as a member of a diverse modern family. After spending three and a half years as a medical student at UC Irvine she left to raise three daughters and focus on family. She received her lifetime multiple subject teaching degree from the University of California, Irvine and has taught grades K-7 on and off.  She has most recently been working as the Instructional Assistant in the Kindergarten classrooms at Brookside Elementary in San Anselmo for the past 9 years.
