Workshops are on demand
Half Acre Woods is now offering Professional Development to assist preschools in staying open during the Covid 19 pandemic. Each workshop will consist of a two hour workshop, a one hour interactive observation of our program, and if desired a one hour site visit where we can help you see the potential of your space.
The 2 Hour Workshop will cover the following topics:
How to adjust your teaching methodology for natural spaces
How to evaluate risks and hazards and when to take action
How to lead and manage a cohesive group in natural spaces
What tools and knowledge you will need to have and creative ways to use them
What steps do you need to take to offer programming outdoors in the state of CA
The 1 Hour Interactive Observation will be an opportunity to see a small group nature program in action. You will be accompanied by a professional outdoor teacher who can provide further explanation for observations you make and provide their own perspective on what teaching strategies are being engaged and where learning standards and various aspect of development are being seen.
The 1 Hour Site Visit is a component we can offer if once you return to your teaching space you feel stuck or uninspired. We can help you see natural elements that will provide learning opportunities that you may have overlooked and help you see where risks and hazards particular to your environment may lie.
